Liquor stores must also be closed whenever liquor sales are prohibited, even if they sell more than just alcohol such as wine and beer.
If you’re at a restaurant on a Sunday and plan to drink, you can. You can drink liquor before noon on Sundays as long as your drink is paired with food. It is also legal to drink on Sundays at 10 A.M during sporting events, festivals, or wineries.
Open Container
An open container is any alcoholic beverage that has a broken seal or has been opened. Don’t get caught traveling illegally with open bottles in your car! Drivers and their passengers must be out of reach of open containers. If you are coming back from a party with already opened alcohol containers, you have to put them in the trunk. If you don’t have a trunk, these containers must be in the back seat. If you are caught with an open container, whether you’re the driver or the passenger, you can be fined up to $500. The moral of the story is – leave the bottles closed and in the back.
Drinking and Driving
In Texas, a person caught driving while intoxicated, with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or higher, is in danger of being arrested. The punishment for driving while intoxicated depends on how many prior instances of such behavior you have had. If you plan on going out for a night of drinking, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
