A Sweet and Slightly Smoky Rum Cocktail!

Amaro Montenegro, an Italian digestif, brings strong flavors of orange to this pleasantly bitter cocktail. The drink starts out warm, with light, molasses-y sweetness coming through the first sip, but packs a pleasantly bitter bite. It’s a touch smoky and delightfully strong. Check out our recipe below and get to making one of our new favorites!

Recipe:

  • 1.5 oz. Jamaican Rum
  • 1 oz. Amaro Montenegro
  • 1 oz. Sweet Vermouth
  • a dash of grapefruit bitters
  • 1 grapefruit peel for garnish
  1. Place rum, Amaro Montenegro, vermouth, and bitters in a cocktail mixing glass filled with ice. Stir until very well chilled, about 30 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice. Top with grapefruit peel twist, and serve.
