This year, Pina Colada Day falls on Wednesday, July 10th. Wasted Wednesday, anyone… anyone? Just kidding. But seriously, let’s talk about how to make this delicious cocktail so that you can kick up your feet and enjoy something sweet on hump day.
Whether you’ve perfected your Pina Colada or not, are planning to have a little poolside gathering or simply wanting to enjoy your cocktail while watching TV, here are some recipes to get you started.
Classic Pina Colada Recipe
What you’ll need:
- 1-1/2 ounces of white rum
- 1 ounce of dark rum
- Dash of Angostura bitters
- 3 ounces of pineapple juice
- Splash of lime juice
- 1 1/2 ounces of Coco Lopez coconut cream
- 1 ounce of heavy cream
- Crushed ice, as needed
- Maraschino cherries and a lime wedge for garnish
To make, blend all of the ingredients with ice – use frozen pineapple instead of pineapple juice for an extra touch – and serve with cherries and lime for garnish.
Amaretto Pina Colada
The classic Pina Colada recipe is delicious on its own… however, if you’re an almond lover, this recipe is for you! Adding that nutty almond flavor is a way to take this drink to a whole new level.
What you’ll need:
- 1 1/2 ounces of white rum
- 1 1/2 ounces of DeKuyper Amaretto
- 1-ounce of coconut milk
- 1 ounce of pineapple juice
- 1/2 a fresh pineapple, cut and frozen
- Crushed ice if needed
- Maraschino cherries and a lime wedge for garnish
Add all of your ingredients to the blender and blend. If the mixture is too runny, add more crushed ice. Serve with cherries and a pineapple wedge.
