Tequila has managed to gain a large cultural following over the years thanks to its reputation as a strong liquor that is culturally significant in Mexico and the southern U.S. While tequila is popular to drink in shots with lemon and salt, here we’ll get into our 3 favorite cocktails that are made with this tasty liquor. By the end of this article, you’ll surely want to try one.
1. Tequila Sunrise
This delicious cocktail is ideal to be sipped on during a lazy afternoon or on a special occasion. Its ingredients blend perfectly creating an explosion of citrus and tequila’s unique flavor.
Ingredients
- 2 oz (1 shot) of tequila (see our list of Tequila we carry here)
- 1/2 cup of orange juice
- 1/4 cup of grenadine
- 1/2 slice of lemon
- 1 Maraschino cherry
- Crushed ice
Preparation
- Pour the tequila, crushed ice and orange juice into a cocktail shaker.
- Stir to mix the tequila with the orange juice.
- Serve in a long glass.
- Quickly incorporate the grenadine so that it falls into the bottom and rises slowly.
- Decorate with the cherry.
2. Acapulco at Night
This cocktail is a favorite of tequila lovers. Its mixed flavor will the kick of tequila and the spice of rum will have you wanting to try it again and again.
Ingredients
- 2 oz (1 shot) of tequila (see our list of Tequila we carry here)
- 1/4 cup of orange juice
- 2 oz (1 shot) of white rum
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- 1 slice of orange
- 6 ice cubes
Preparation
- Mix the tequila, rum, orange juice and 6 ice cubes in a cocktail shaker.
- Shake well for a few seconds getting the liquors to mix evenly.
- Decorate the glass by passing the orange slice along the edge.
- Then place the cup upside-down on a plate with the sugar.
- Serve in the decorated cup.
3. Mexican Mule
This delicious cocktail has a spicy touch that preserves the essence of the tequila, surpassing the traditional Moscow Mule. This drink will surely wrap you around its “little finger” from the very first sip.
Ingredients
- 2 oz (1 shot) of tequila (see our list of Tequila we carry here)
- 1/4 cup of lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon of sugar syrup
- 1 bottle of Ginger beer
- Ice
- Mint leaves
Preparation
- Fill the glass halfway with ice.
- Squeeze the lemon into the glass and add the sugar syrup along with the tequila.
- Stir until all the ingredients are integrated.
- Finish by filling the glass with the soda.
- Garnish with some peppermint leaves.
