Looking for the perfect picnic spot or place to take the kids for outdoor exploration? Luckily the summer heat will soon be gone and Fall park weather will be in full effect. Here’s a list of our favorite parks in Conroe Texas with beautiful scenery and activities for the whole family.
John Burge Park
This is a slightly secluded park located very close to Conroe. John Burge Park also doubles as a trail, and is very suitable for hiking, trail running, and strolling. Surrounded by trees, this park is completely safe for children and pets. It has a fantastic playground, and even a disc golf course. One of the other major perks to this park is its picnic facilities. There’s plenty of space to hang out, enjoy a picnic, and watch the kids play.
William Goodrich Jones Park
Also known as WG Jones Forest, this park is popular choice for hikers and trail runners. It’s a very scenic park with two lakes and a healthy establishment of sweetleaf trees. There are shaded picnic spots, which make for a relaxing, cooler experience. Another attractive feature of this park is its waterfront and fishing areas. For dog owners who want to give their furry friends a tail-wagging experience, this park is very dog-friendly.
Candy Cane Park
Candy Cane Park is one of the more popular parks in Conroe. This 24 acre park has tons of facilities to keep the family busy – its most significant being the Aquatic Center. The Aquatic Center has a leisure pool with mini slides, a water curtain, and water blasters. There’s also a gigantic bucket that spills up to 40 gallons of water on bystanders below. In addition to the Aquatic Center, Candy Cane park also has a walking/jogging trail, tennis courts, gazebos, and picnic areas.
Northshore Park
Located on Lake Woodlands, the Northshore Park is a favorite among residents. There are several activities here, from kayaking to sailing. The Northshore Park also has picnic areas, and barbecue pits for those who like their picnic food smokey and hot. For people who have kids, this park has a playground for both older and younger kids, as well as swings. Depending on when you visit, you may also catch a free concert… Hint, Sunday evenings during early Fall typically have music!
Lake Conroe Park
Spanning 13 acres, the Lake Conroe Park is a great spot to hang out and relax. There are designated swimming areas, fishing piers, and other water activities for the family. Lake Conroe Park has a number of barbecue pits for hosting, and picnic areas for smaller gatherings. One of the more major features of this park is the two large pavilions. It is also close to a handful of hiking and biking trails.
