Pinot noir is considered the holy grail of the liquor world because, despite the varieties of wine grapes all over the world, pinot noir is the most preferred and revered. With its smooth tannins and fruity flavors, pinot noir is the most widely planted grape in notable regions around the globe.

This thin-skinned fruit with a spiced aroma makes the classic red wine. This fruit is quite difficult to cultivate, which is why it can only be found in cool climates or near large bodies of water. It has more variations in taste than any other grape because of the various regions that it grows in. The primary flavors are raspberry, cherry, vanilla, mushroom, and hibiscus.

In California, pinot noir grows in numerous regions, including Carneros, Anderson Valley, Mendocino County, Russian River Valley, Sonoma County, Santa Lucia Highlands, Monterey County, and the Sonoma coast.

Some of our favorite California pinot noirs include:

  • Fel Savoy Vineyard (Anderson Valley): This wine is especially excellent, exuding aromas of cola, morel cherry, and purple orchid, supple tennis, and harmony.
  • Buena Vista (Carneros): Pinot Noir from this location specifically has a mix of strawberry flavors and red cherry. It’s less earthy and more fruity, providing a delightfully sweet taste.
  • Lombard (Sonoma Coast): Surprisingly, this wine has a moderate acid level and high concentration, containing brown spice and aromas of mace, roast coffee, and cola.
  • Garry Farrell (Rochiolli Vineyard): Found in a Russian River Valley, this pure wine consists of brown spice, red roses, carnation, tar, and morel cherry.

There are many regions in France that produce pinot noir wines with fabulous tastes:


This region, close to Reim, plays a part in making French wines so famous. Our favorites in the champagne region in France are:

  • Dom Perignon Champagne: Indeed, a prestigious Cuvee with an intense taste.
  • Veuve Clicquot Champagne: This yellow label can be found all around the world. So, you’ll definitely love the taste of it.
  • Ace Of Spades Champagne: Almond-orange notes with a creamy bubble finesse.


This region has magnificent views and produces world-famous refreshing white wines. Alsace Pinot noir has its own rustic charm. Here are some of our favorite wines from this beautiful region.

  • Trimbach Personnelle Reserve Pinot Noir: Truly, bright palates with pure fruit taste, aromatic and refreshing. This wine is also good for your health.

Types of Pinot Noir in New Zealand

The country of New Zealand has a wide array of pinot noir grape regions with the undeniable power to make great wines.


Wines from this region have unrivaled freshness from a subtle acidity that complements their tannin structure. Here are the ones that we prefer:

  • Ata Rangi: Spiced notes and subtle herbs with smooth berry and cherry fruits.
  • Esk Valley: Specifically, Nice perfumes, supple, fresh, and floral.

Currently, this country is expanding along the Rio Negro River. Surprisingly, wines from this country bring a certain ray of sunshine into a glass.


This region is known for warm, dry summers and cold winters. The grounds are quite fertile for pinot noir grape wines like:
