While Texas seems like the obvious choice for cowboys, whisky, and beer, it also ranks as one of the highest producers of wine in the United States.

In fact, there are over 400 Texas wineries with licenses, making it the fifth highest producer of wine in the country.

Taking that into consideration, it was definitely challenging to choose just five wineries for this article.

But, with these, we know you will enjoy both the wine and the atmosphere!

McPherson Cellars

McPherson Cellars is definitely one of the best wineries in Texas, with more than 450 medals from both state, national, and international competitions.

The McPherson family owns the company, which is over 40 years old. They pride themselves on making every wine with Texas grapes.

Tastings and tours are available from Monday to Saturday.

The Homestead Winery

The Homestead Winery is the oldest wine company in the Red Valley of North Texas.

It has an assortment of award-winning wines like the Desert Rose, many of which are full-bodied and rich in flavor.

The Homestead Winery has three tasting rooms located in Denison, Ivanhoe, and Grapevine.

Brennan Vineyards

Although newer to the industry, The Brennan Vineyards made a name for themselves. The winery, which started in 2002, is known for its high-quality wines like the Viognier, Cabernet, and Syrah.

The majority of the wines are made from homegrown grapes, and the company has received a handful of awards.

There is a tasting room – winos be sure to give this vineyard a visit!

The Lost Oak Winery

The Lost Oak Winery is a popular choice of Texans, with beautiful scenery and rentable spaces for things like weddings and events.

The winery in Burleson offers tastings as well as reasonably-priced tours.

Estes, the owner, incorporates his knowledge and experiences when crafting the finest wines. This Texas winery also hosts a handful of public events like wine pairing classes and live music.

The Trilogy Cellars

The Trilogy Cellars is a place wine lovers should definitely visit. Three families own this winery, each with their own vineyard.

The company opened a tasting room in downtown Levelland in 2006 where their topnotch quality wines like the Rowdy Bolen, Chace Hill, and Malbec are available for tasting.
