michelada drink

Have you ever had an authentic Michelada drink? Your first time may have been at a brunch spot, or maybe in Mexico at a table where they also served authentic queso from a lava rock vessel. Or, perhaps you’re like, “I’ve never heard of such a drink.” Well, if that’s you, you’re in luck. The Michelada is a delicious Mexican concoction originating from the 1960s. Moreover, the drink itself is a combination of salt, lime, chili spices, Mexican beer, tomato juices, as well as hot and soy sauces. Think a twist on the Bloody Mary. Sounds interesting, right?

Michelada Day

Michelada day is celebrated on the 12th of July in Mexico, and all that’s required is making and drinking Micheladas. Easy enough! Besides knowing what in the world a Michelada is, there’s not much else you need to make your celebratory drink. Just run out for your favorite Mexican beer and check the kitchen for these necessary ingredients: soy sauce, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt, chili powder, and limes. You most likely won’t have one essential ingredient, though, so add this to your shopping list – Clamato juice (or tomato juice). It can be found at your local grocer.
