How to Make a DIY Daiquiri Bar

We can only think of one reason why a person wouldn’t like to drink daiquiris – they can’t drink rum because it’s deliciously dangerous. Okay, okay… yes, this is just our reason – speaking from experience. Isn’t it true though? Rum is so sweet and smooth that it blends into almost any drink without letting you know it’s there. Hence, the danger. Regardless of where you stand with rum, a summer daiquiri is hard to beat. So, as promised, here’s how to make a do-it-yourself daiquiri bar!

The daiquiri cocktail is from Spanish and Cuban origins and is said to have been invented by an American mining engineer who worked in Cuba during the Spanish-American war. It is also rumored to have been the favorite cocktail of President John F. Kennedy and Ernest Hemingway. Your favorite too? Aren’t you fancy! In celebration of Daiquiri Day on July 19th, show your friends just how fancy you are with a little DIY daiquiri bar. Before getting started, make sure you have all the equipment needed to complete your daiquiri bar. Aside from the ingredients, you’ll need a cocktail shaker, blender, measuring cup, and cocktail glasses. Don’t forget some fun straws, cocktail napkins, and a variety of garnishes!

Classic Daiquiri

When you think of daiquiris you may also instantly feel transported to the beach, and imagine yourself sipping on a frozen drink. Well, the classic daiquiri is actually over ice. It brings together sweet and sour flavors for a wonderful fusion that goes down clean.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces light rum
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice
  • 1/2 tsp fine sugar

Directions

Pour fresh lime juice into a cocktail shaker with your sugar and shake. After a few seconds of good mixing, add your rum and ice. Shake properly. Drain into your cocktail glass and serve with the garnish of your choice. We prefer a twisted lime peel.

Frozen Daiquiri

Of course, we have to mention the frozen daiquiri, which is what most people prefer. This recipe is a great twist on the original and perfect for any party, especially in the summer.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces white rum
  • 1 1/2 ounces lime juice
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup
  • Splash of Triple Sec or orange juice
  • Crushed ice

Directions

Simply measure and pour the ingredients into a shaker with crushed ice, shake properly, pour into a glass, and serve. Another way to make this drink is by pouring all the ingredients and ice cubes into a blender, blending properly, and serving in a fun glass. You can also toss any fruit of your choice into the blender for a fruity, enjoyable taste.

Strawberry Daiquiri

The strawberry daiquiri may be one of the more famous variations… slushy, sweet, and filled with strawberry goodness. It’s a must for any daiquiri bar.

Ingredients

  • Ice
  • Frozen strawberries
  • 1/8 cup lime juice
  • 3/4 cup white rum
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • Simple Syrup

Directions

Throw the ice, simple syrup, and strawberries into your blender. Blend until smooth and then add the other ingredients. Blend again until the drink is at your preferred consistency. Sweeten the deal with a fun garnish. Prefer banana daiquiris? Simply sub out the strawberry for bananas!

Mulata Daiquiri

The Mulata Daiquiri is an intense and flavorful cocktail made just like any other daiquiri but with a unique twist… the rich and velvety taste of chocolate or coffee liquor.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces of dark rum
  • 1/2 ounce coffee or chocolate liquor
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice
  • 1/4 ounce simple Syrup

Directions

Simply measure and pour the ingredients into your cocktail shaker, add ice, shake properly, drain, and serve in a martini glass.

Don’t forget to sweeten up your drink with fun straws, a mix of garnishes, and sugared rims on your cocktail glasses. Cheers!
