We offer affordable choices from the windows to the walls but with expert guidance to help you find what you need in record time and at a price that will keep you coming back.

Local

Zipps aims to have a store within 30 miles of you, no matter where you are in Texas. Why? For your convenience! No one should have to drive more than 30 minutes to get the party supplies they need. We also support your ability to have a great time with friends and family at a moment’s notice. So, we like to stay close.

Affordable

Just like at any Zipps, you can plan to save at least 10% more than you would at other liquor stores for precisely the same product, if not a better one. Depending on what you’re shopping for, sometimes we can even save you up to 30%.

Helpful

Friendly, familiar faces will always be there to answer questions and help find what you’re looking for in the store. While we try to keep the size of the store manageable, our serious selection of goods can sometimes make choosing hard. Our skilled employees are well-versed in service and products, and they’re always ready to share.

Selection

We can’t wait to meet and greet you in our liquor store in Palestine, with a vast selection of beer, wine, and spirits. We know that some people are loyal to big brands, but we also offer extensive local offerings so that you can get a taste of Texas alongside your regular order. Our Beer Cave is one of the best and biggest around, icy cold and stocked full of three to four times the choices you’re used to.

What Makes Palestine, Texas, So Special?

Texas is full of unique destinations with friendly people and fun events, so what makes this city stand out? Follow along as we share just some of the reasons we decided to call Palestine home.

Outstanding Hospitality

Start with the folks at Palestine Visitor’s Center and make your way to any number of the locally owned and operated Bed-and-Breakfasts in the area. The people who run the visitor-facing businesses in the area are some of the kindest and most helpful we have met.

Exciting Events

It’s nice to know that a few community-wide celebrations have remained popular over the years. Not only do people in Palestine celebrate these events, but folks come from all over to get in on the good times.

Texas Dogwood Trails Festival

Each year, Palestine implores visitors to “come for the hospitality and stay for the Dogwoods,” and it’s easy to see why. If you head over to Davey Dogwood Park each year around March and April, the trees are at their peak bloom. The Texas Dogwood Trails Festival is celebrated over the last two weekends in March and the first weekend in April. To date, 84 years of celebrations have brought visitors from the state and nation to enjoy the blooms over those three weeks.

Hot Pepper Festival

While the Hot Pepper Festival hasn’t been around as long as the Dogwood Festival, you can partake in this event each year in October. For more than 40 years, Palestine has been host to “The Hottest Little Festival in Texas.” While the community chili cook-off and the pepper-palooza parade are the top-billed events, don’t miss out on the other festivities that fall during mid-October. Look for:

  • Wing Stop atomic wing challenge
  • The lick-a-thon
  • Jalapeno hot pepper eating contest
  • Food vendors
  • Kid’s activities
  • Arts and crafts
  • Live music

Main Street Christmas

The events start with a yearly Polar Express train ride. Afterward, families can gather at the center of town to watch the lighting of the historic courthouse. Children and adults enjoy the Christmas parade that wraps up and down Main Street. Santa Claus is ready and waiting to take pictures with everyone, whether you’re on the nice or naughty list. Finish your evening with Old Town Carriage rides before you head back to your Bed and Breakfast to enjoy the decorations there.

Rich History

Officially established in 1846, many of Palestine’s buildings and historical attractions are still preserved for visitors to enjoy. Some of the architecture even pre-dates the foundation of Palestine itself. For other items of significance, swing into the Howard House Museum or the Museum for East Texas Culture to learn more about the people and the area. Visitors can marvel at any one of the most popular visitor attractions that exhibit Palestine’s history, including but not limited to:

  • 1895 Antioch Baptist Church
  • Anderson County Courthouse
  • Texas State Railroad
  • Sacred Heart Church
  • Carnegie Library

Eclectic Attractions

Food and shopping are always top of the list for travelers. Old Town Palestine provides a park-like setting for plenty of shopping that will quickly fill your day with visiting shops and hearing the stories of artisans and local makers.

Stop in for food at any of the local restaurants to sample regional delicacies in addition to traditional favorites that everyone will enjoy. Spend your afternoon at a nearby vineyard or walk through the Art Tracks and Sculpture Tour, if weather permits.
