Let’s talk summer craft beers… we honestly can’t think of any better way to honor International Beer Day than that. So, on the 2nd of August, raise a glass to all of the pubs, breweries, liquor stores, bartenders, and brewers who you love so much. Thank you – friends – for providing us with your artistry that is beer. To properly pay homage to our favorite past-time – beer drinking – we’ve listed some of our top craft beer choices.
Back Forty’s Paw Paw’s Peach Wheat
Fruit beers aren’t always the fan-favorite. They tend to be too sweet, syrupy, and lacking in that classic beer flavor.
Back Forty’s Paw Paw’s Peach Wheat is not one of these beers though. This beer is a perfect balance of golden naked oats and Alabama-grown fresh peaches.
There’s a unique flavor to this beer – a dance between sweet and crispy. It’s truly a delicious, local craft beer choice for summer porch sipping.
Wicked Weed Brewing’s Amorous Sour IPA
Sour beers. You either love ’em or hate ’em. So, sour craft beer fans, this one is for you.
Brewed by Wicked Weed Brewing in North Carolina, this beer is made with wild yeast, giving it an acidic, tart-like flavor. It finishes crisp with a complimentary tropical fruitiness. It is more on the sour side than the hoppy side. If that’s not for you, don’t sweat it.This brewery has a handful of sour beers to choose from!
Sixpoint Brewing’s Jammer
There’s something about Sixpoint Brewing’s Jammer that takes you to the water, without having to step foot on the beach. Although, who wouldn’t want that? Anyway, this gose style beer is brewed with coriander and sea salt, making it refreshingly tangy. On top of that, Sixpoint, in Brooklyn, New York, is quite frankly a cool brand with a lot of craft beers and a lot of praise.
Anchor Brewing’s Blood Orange Blonde
The name of this beer gives it all away, well almost.
The color is a deep crimson, the taste is tangy like blood orange, and the smell is beautiful citrus sweet. Anchor Brewing, in California, takes California orange peels and includes them in the brewing process.
So not only does this beer taste great, it smells great too. If you’re looking for a sweet, crisp, and refreshing end of summer beer, this one is a must.
Harpoon Brewing’s Camp Wannamango
Mango and passionfruit with a touch of hoppiness. How could you go wrong?
This copper beer is touched by a dash of malt and a bit of bitterness. Harpoon Brewing, based in Boston, Massachusetts, made this beer with summer in mind… summer camp even?
It’s reminiscent of hanging out on the dock, feet in the water, and the sun on your face.
Mr. Pineapple by SanTan Brewing
A pineapple wheat? Wizardry!
SanTan’s Mr. Pineapple tastes like, well, pineapples. Not just any pineapples though – pineapples fresh from Fair Trade Costa Rican farms.
It has won a handful of awards and pairs well with summer favorites like pork, green chili peppers, and spicy food.
Green Flash Brewing’s Passion Fruit Kicker
Another California beer rich with wheat and fruity complexity.
Yes, it’s true, our end of summer beers have a trend. Fruitiness. And what better way to send you off than with a tangy, sweet fruit like passion fruit? This beer is crisp, mouth-watering, tropical perfection.
Moreover, do not to forget the underlying tones of tea. Yes, tea.
So there you have it, friends. Raise a glass, honor your local craft breweries and celebrate International Beer Day in style. Cheers!
