Cocktails To Celebrate Spring in Texas

The Red Rose

Celebrate budding roses with a bloom from any nearby bush. To change the recipe up, use the traditional Texas yellow rosebud instead.


  • 2 oz tequila 
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 1 oz rose water 
  • ½ oz grenadine 
  • Rosebud
  • Salt 
  • Ice


  • Salt a martini glass and set it aside 
  • Fill a shaker with ice 
  • Combine all ingredients except rosebud and salt into the shaker 
  • Shake vigorously for 30 seconds
  • Strain into a martini glass 
  • Garnish with skewered rosebud 

Sotol Sour

Sotol is a popular favorite in the great lone star state. Texans will enjoy this riff on a tequila sour all spring long. 


  • 2 oz sotol 
  • 2 oz pineapple juice 
  • 1 oz lemon juice 
  • ½ oz smoked honey 
  • 1 egg white 
  • Violet petals 
  • Ice 


  • Pour all ingredients into a shaker except egg white, petals, and ice 
  • Stir vigorously 
  • Add ice and egg whites, then shake for 30 seconds 
  • Strain into a coupe glass 
  • Garnish with fresh violet petals

  • 2 oz tequila 
  • 2 oz lemon juice 
  • 1 oz simple syrup 
  • ½ oz Cointreau 
  • ½ oz blue Curacao
  • Lemon wheel 
  • Ice 


  • Combine all ingredients in a shaker 
  • Shake vigorously 
  • Fill a rocks glass with fresh ice 
  • Strain shaker into the glass 
  • Garnish with a lemon wheel

Spring Cocktails


  • 2 oz Texas Jalapeno Moonshine 
  • 2 oz sour mix
  • 1 oz grenadine 
  • 1 lime juice 
  • 1 dash smoke chile bitters 
  • Smoked salt 
  • Ice 


  • Rim a Collins glass with lime juice and dip in smoked salt, then set aside 
  • Combine all other ingredients in a shaker 
  • Shake vigorously for 30 seconds 
  • Fill Collins glass with ice 
  • Strain shaker over ice 
  • Garnish with a lime wedge 

The Blooming Berries Blend 

If you’re looking for brunch spring drinks but want to make it with alcohol, this berry vodka blend will do the trick. Spring berries impart springtime freshness while the alcohol plays second fiddle to the complex mix of flavors. 


  • 2 strawberries 
  • 2 blackberries 
  • 2 raspberries 
  • 2 oz vodka 
  • 1 oz prosecco
  • 1 oz elderflower liqueur 
  • 1 cup ice 
  • 2 basil leaves
  • 1 basil leaf 


  • Combine all ingredients and the two basil leaves in the blender 
  • Blend until smooth 
  • Serve in a chilled glass with a straw
  • Garnish with one basil leaf

Chicks and Peeps Punch

  • 1 bottle prickly pear vodka 
  • ½ bottle white rum 
  • 2 bottles of club soda 
  • 3 tbsp vanilla extract 
  • 1 c orange juice 
  • 1 c pineapple juice 
  • 1 c cherry juice 
  • 4 oranges
  • 2 pineapples
  • 1 lb pitted cherries
  • Ice


  • Peel, pit, slice, and freeze all fresh fruit 
  • Combine all other ingredients in a large serving container 
  • Refrigerate until ready to serve 
  • When fruit is frozen and punch is ready to serve, add to mixture 
  • Provide additional ice to keep punch chilled 

Pink Posey 

This is one of the most delicate and delicious spring drinks made for bridal luncheons or afternoon teas. It packs a punch but is light and airy enough that you can remain dignified while making a second round. 


  • 2 oz gin 
  • 2 oz rosé
  • 1 oz elderflower liqueur 
  • Dash of peach bitters 
  • Ice 


  • Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice 
  • Stir well 
  • Strain into a chilled martini glass

Peach, Please

Depending on what part of the state you’re from, your tea may already be sweet enough, and the peach preserves can be adjusted according to taste. 


  • 2 oz dark rum 
  • 8 oz brewed iced tea
  • 1 tbsp peach preserves 
  • Dash of peach bitters 
  • Fresh peach slice 


  • In a shaker, stir together rum, peach bitters, and peach preserves 
  • Add iced tea and stir well 
  • Add ice to a tall glass 
  • Strain shaker mix into iced glass 
  • Garnish with a peach slice

  • 2 oz moonshine 
  • 1 oz simple syrup 
  • Soda 
  • Ice 
  • Lemon wheel 


  • Muddle watermelon and lemon juice in a shaker 
  • Add moonshine and simple syrup to combine 
  • Add ice to shaker and shake vigorously for 30 seconds
  • Strain into Collins glass filled with fresh ice 
  • Top with soda 
  • Garnish with lemon

  • Fill a copper mule mug with crushed ice
