The spirit of the town was sparked by none other than Isaac Conroe, a Civil War Illinois Calvary captain-turned-lumberman in the second half of the 19th century. Traveling back and forth between Houston and the little bit of land he owned, Conroe quickly turned this patch of woods into a bustling sawmill. If lake activities are your idea of a good time, this is definitely the resort for you. Bring your boat and launch into the lake right in front of the campground. No worries if you don’t have a boat, either—you can rent a paddle boat, a kayak, or a canoe there, too.
For anyone in the family that isn’t too much of a lake fanatic, there are basketball courts and mini golf along with plenty of other attractions to be enjoyed while on land. Both RV storage and cabins are options to enjoy your stay.

Of course, not every resort has to be lake centric. If the soothing sounds of swaying branches and falling leaves is a more your idea of calmness, Leisure Lane might be the resort for you. Always surrounded by beautiful scenery of trees and curious wildlife, there’s little mystery as to why this place has “leisure” in the title. A pool, a park area, and a dog park are available for you to relax even more, especially alongside your furry friend (as pets are welcome).
